  • Join the board of 22STARS Foundation!

With almost 500 sponsored children and celebrating our 5th anniversary, it is time to get new skills and ideas "on board" and find one or two persons with this ‘X factor’ that can add to our board’s skill mix and help us grow. Do you have strategic experience and networks, including non-profit knowledge, Ugandan and/or East African experience/ambition, we would love to hear from you.

    THE FOUNDATION

Since 2017the 22Stars Foundation is deeply engaged with empowering parents and their children in vulnerable communities in Kampala and Jinja, Uganda. Education is key to rise above poverty and that is why our projects use an integrated approach to community development - focusing on the development of economic, social, natural, human, and cultural capital. Our long-term vision is to have our own education centre, where both teenagers and their parents can learn and develop their entrepreneurship skills. Important in all of our work are the values we stand for and that unites us are respect, reliability, transparency, compassion and teamwork.

    THE BOARD

As part of our Board, you are a fiduciary who steers our organisation towards a sustainable future by helping us to adopt sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the 22STARS Foundation has adequate resources to advance its mission. The project managers deliver updates to you and on a quarterly basis the board will have (virtual) meetings to signal whether we are still on track or where we need to adjust. It goes without saying that you are dedicated to and passionate about our mission and values.

    PROFILE CHARACTERISTICS

We are looking for highly motivated individuals with a sense for strategic thinking and can support the international team on the ground to meet the purpose and mission, who can bring in their personal and professional networks and connect us with company partnerships/ sponsorships. Most importantly we need people who have experience with and understand the Ugandan/East African culture and if not, you are willing to visit our projects in Uganda within the first twelve months of their term. Besides that, Board members are also willing to make a substantial financial contribution to the organisation.

If you are interested in becoming deeply involved in the work the 22STARS Foundation does to improve the lives of women, children and communities in Uganda, please consider applying for a position to join the board! We are registered in The Netherlands and have the Dutch ANBI Status (Public Benefit Institution), hence a board position is fully unpaid. The board of our partner organisations in Uganda exists fully of an Ugandan board and has no open vacancies.

If you have any questions please email Stella Airoldi, with a brief introduction on who you are and why you are interested in joining the Board along with your description of work experiences and of course the questions you have.
