    22STARS – COME E' INIZIATO TUTTO

    Dal 2009 al 2020!

    Stella Romana Airoldi si è recata in Uganda per la prima volta nel 2009 per scrivere la sua tesi di laurea magistrale in Diritto Internazionale. Dopo pochi giorni, senti' il desiderio di fare di più e di aiutare attivamente le persone colpite dalla guerra a livello locale.

    Questo primo viaggio ha rappresentato l'inizio della fondazione dell'impresa sociale 22STARS nel 2013 e della Fondazione 22STARS nel 2017.

    Aiutare ad aiutare se stessi

    22STARS è nata per aiutare le famiglie in Uganda che vivono in estrema povertà ad aiutare se stesse. Grazie a questa impresa adesso molte donne e uomini disoccupate nelle baraccopoli di Kampala e Jinja creano gioielli fatti a mano usando perle di carta riciclata. Con il profitto della vendita dei gioielli possono prendersi cura di se stessi e delle loro famiglie.

    LA FONDAZIONE 22STARS

    Educando i nostri bambini aiutiamo un Paese intero.

    Oltre alle cure di base, le donne e gli uomini di 22STARS hanno un grande desiderio: che i loro figli possano ricevere una buona educazione. Per questo motivo abbiamo creato la Fondazione 22STARS. L'obiettivo iniziale della fondazione è stato quello di dare un'educazione ai figli degli artigiani di 22STARS. Ma sono successe molte cose dal 2017: la fondazione ora dispone di molti sponsor ed è in grado di pagare le tasse scolastiche a più di 300 bambini delle baraccopoli, permettendo così loro di andare a scuola.

    E' stato per noi un grande traguardo, e ne siamo molto orgogliosi, ma molti bambini stanno ancora aspettando di avere l'opportunità di ricevere un'istruzione.

    Stella è la responsabile dell'intero progetto. Insieme a Susan e Aidah, seleziona i bambini che farnano parte del programma.

    Scrive la storia dei bambini, li fotografa e mantiene aggiornato il sito web.

    Mantiene inoltre i contatti con tutti gli sponsor, monitora le finanze e raccoglie donazioni. Stella si reca regolarmente in Uganda per parlare con famiglie e bambini.

    Susan Laker

    Responsabile progetti di Kampala​

    Susan Laker è una delle designer di 22STARS e vive nel quartiere di Acholi. I gioielli la migliorarono molto e riuscì a tornare a scuola da sola. Susan paga le tasse scolastiche quando Stella non è in Uganda e si occupa della contabilità e delle pagelle scolastiche. Dal momento che Susan vive nella baraccopoli, mantiene stretti contatti con famiglie e bambini. Ogni domenica cucina un pasto per tutti i bambini. Tutti e tre i figli di Susan possono frequentare la scuola grazie alla fondazione 22STARS.

    Aidah Namboza

    Responsabile progetti di Jinja​

    I genitori di Aidah vivevano nel quartiere povero di Danida a Jinja, ma lei è riuscita ad andare a scuola e a migliorare la propria vita. Ora vive con la sua famiglia a 10 minuti da Danida dove si reca spesso facendo il possibile per aiutare le famiglie di Danida. Crea anche gioielli per 22STARS, e quando Stella non è in Uganda, paga le tasse scolastiche. le fatture e le pagelle scolastiche. La fondazione 22STARS supporta l'educazione di due dei figli i di Aidah.

    Il miglior supporto per le famiglie dei bambini che mandiamo a scuola è consentire loro di poter migliorare il proprio stile di vita ed essere autosufficienti.

    Per questa ragione abbiamo stretto una collaborazione con Entrepreneurs Hands Uganda (EHU), grazie alla quale ogni sabato teniamo corsi di formazione per piccole imprese per le famiglie di Jinja.

     

    Lo facciamo a Kampala da novembre 2017. Molte delle madri dei nostri bambini hanno idee di impresa valide, ma hanno bisogno di assistenza, feedback regolari e un piccolo finanziamento di avvio per poter iniziare un'attività.

     

    A Jinja abbiamo iniziamente selezionato 28 donne e uomini, selezionato insieme a loro le attività più adatte a loro e determinato la maniera piu' efficace affinchè sia possibile garantire che avranno successo a lungo termine.

    L'aiuto all'avviamento che forniamo alle famiglie non è una semplice donazione, poichè vengono motivate a reinvestire il prestito dopo alcuni mesi per sostenere altre famiglie o per ulteriori investimenti nelle proprie attività.

    Questo viene fatto per garantire che la loro impresa cresca e si sviluppi in modo sostenibile.

All pictures on www.foundation22stars.org are taken by the 22STARS Foundation with permission of the children and their parents and care-takers. In keeping with our mission, we welcome sponsors to share the picture of their sponsored child and our projects for the purpose of sharing our story with their friends and to encourage others to also participate in our causes. This does not cover commercial use of our materials. Unless otherwise stated, the copyright and other rights on all material published on www.foundation22stars.org belongs to the 22STARS Foundation.

3.	Disclaimer of liability

Every precaution has been taken by the 22STARS Foundation to ensure that the content of this site is accurate, legally correct and ethical. 

Whilst all reasonable efforts have been made to ensure the accuracy of content, no responsibility can be taken for any error or omission, nor can the 22STARS Foundation assume any liability for the content of websites linked to our site.
Should the 22STARS Foundation receive any complaint with regard to third party material on our site, we will review the matter and remove material at our sole discretion. We will have no further liability to either party in such instance.

4.	Payments

22STARS Foundation accepts PayPal payments, direct bank transfers and donations through the specific campaigns set up for the 22STARS Foundation on Donorbox and GoFundMe as acceptable methods of payment. 

5.	Data protection and privacy

6.	Long-term sponsors of a child

If you like to become a long-term sponsor of one of our children we require your name and email address in order to send you all the information with regards to your child. Unless you like to be anonymous we publish your name on our website and or our social media channels. 

7.	 Cancellations of long-term sponsorships of the children

You can cancel any time your donation subscription to us and stop sponsoring your child. We would appreciate if you let us know immediately when you have the attention to stop the sponsorship, so that we are able to find a new long-term sponsor for the specific child. If 22STARS FOUDNATION has to stop the sponsorship with a certain child we will inform you straight ahead and we will find another child for you that you can continue sponsoring through his/her education. 

8.	Right to reallocate funds

The 22STARS foundation reserves the right to reallocate funds when necessary. Funds designated towards the support of a specific sponsor child or towards a specific project may at times need to be redirected. For example, if a change in the security situation makes the completion of a project unsafe, funds will be reallocated as appropriate. We work to avoid the reallocation of funds and only do so when necessary.


9.	Gofundme Campaign

By setting up a GOFUNDME campaign for the 22STARS foundation and using pictures and text of the 22STARS foundation, you must have prior agreement and approval of the 22STARS foundation to do so. 10.	Communication 

If you contact us via our website or have opted in other circumstances for us to contact you via e-mail, we will communicate with you using the e-mail address you have provided. We will assume that your e-mail address is correct and that you understand the risks associated with using this form of communication. 

11.	Applicable Law

Dutch law governs these Terms and Conditions to the fullest extent allowable. Any disputes in connection with the 22STARS foundation or these Terms and Conditions will be initiated in the Courts of Breda where exclusive jurisdiction and venue reside. If a court or any other appropriate authority finds any portion of this document to be invalid, the remainder will remain in full force and effect. 
 
If you do not accept these Terms and Conditions in full, you must stop using this site immediately. We reserve the right to prevent you accessing this site, without prejudice to any of our other rights, if we consider that you have contravened our Policy on Privacy and Use of Information or any of these Terms and Conditions.


From time to time, the 22STARS foundation may need to change its Terms and Conditions because of changes in its foundation, or in its attempts to serve your needs better. 22STARS foundation will always publish the current terms on our website and notify you of this.

1. Personal information 22STARS FOUNDATION collects

Information We Collect


To sponsor a specific child long-term, you must provide us with certain information, such as your name, email address, payment information, and the name of the child that you like to sponsor. This is necessary as we will send you regular updates with regards to the child that you sponsor and or our ongoing project. You may also choose to provide us with additional personal information if you contact us directly. 

We treat your information very confidential. If you like to be an anonymous sponsor of a child, or make an anonymous donation to one of our causes, we will not publish your name related to the cause or specific child anywhere. 

If you like to sponsor a child publicly we will put your name on our website and social media in relation to the specific child you sponsor or cause you made a donation to. We don’t publish any other details of you and don’t give your contact details to anyone outside of our organization, neither the child that you sponsor will receive your contact details.  

To make a general donation, you do not have to provide us with any data and hence can send us money which we treat as an absolute anonymous donation. 

2. The legal bases we rely on to collect, use, and share personal information

Why We Need Your Information and How We Use It

We rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use, and share your information, including:
•	as needed to provide our services, such as when we use your information to send you emails and updates with regard to the child that you sponsor, to settle disputes, or to provide support;
•	when you have provided your affirmative consent, which you may revoke at any time, such as by signing up for my mailing list;
•	if necessary to comply with a legal obligation or court order or in connection with a legal claim, such as retaining information about your donation if required by tax law; and
•	as necessary for the purpose of our legitimate interests, if those legitimate interests are not overridden by your rights or interests, such as providing and improving our services. We use your information to provide the services you requested and in our legitimate interest to improve our services. 
	

3. The third parties with whom we share personal information

Information Sharing and Disclosure

Information about our sponsors is important to our foundation in order to send regularly reports about the sponsored children and in order to send out the new payment for future school terms. We share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows:
•	Service providers. We engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to our website. We will share your personal information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these services.
•	Foundation transfers. If we stop or merge our foundation, we may disclose your information as part of that transaction, only to the extent permitted by law. 
•	Compliance with laws. We may collect, use, retain, and share your information if we have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to: (a) respond to legal process or to government requests; (b) enforce our agreements, terms and policies; (c) prevent, investigate, and address fraud and other illegal activity, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, and safety of our customers, or others.

4. The length of time we keep personal information

Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with our services and as described in our Privacy Policy. However, we may also be required to retain this information to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements. We generally keep your data for the following time period: 4 years.

Transfers of Personal Information Outside the EU

We may store and process your information through third-party hosting services in the US and other jurisdictions. As a result, we may transfer your personal information to a jurisdiction with different data protection and government surveillance laws than your jurisdiction. If we are deemed to transfer information about you outside of the EU, we rely on Privacy Shield as the legal basis for the transfer, as Google Cloud is Privacy Shield certified.

6. Our donor’s rights regarding our use of their personal information and our contact details

Your Rights

If you reside in certain territories, including the EU, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal information. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights apply only in certain limited cases. We describe these rights below:
•	Access. You may have the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you by contacting us using the contact information below. 
•	Change, restrict, delete. You may also have rights to change, restrict our use of, or delete your personal information. Absent exceptional circumstances (like where we are required to store data for legal reasons) we will generally delete your personal information upon request. 
•	Object. You can object to (i) our processing of some of your information based on our legitimate interests and (ii) receiving marketing messages from us after providing your express consent to receive them. In such cases, we will delete your personal information unless we have compelling and legitimate grounds to continue using that information or if it is needed for legal reasons. 
•	Complain. If you reside in the EU and wish to raise a concern about our use of your information (and without prejudice to any other rights you may have), you have the right to do so with your local data protection authority.

7. Our Sponsor Child Privacy

Respecting the privacy of our sponsor children and their families is a key element of our work. 22STARS Foundation extends the same attitude of respect and confidentiality to our sponsor children as given to their sponsors.
